California’s standards for resolving custody issues can vary based on the age and specific needs of the child. In general, however, the court’s priority lies with maintaining stability in the child’s life as much as possible. This often translates into continuing the custodial arrangements that have prevailed for the last six months unless there are valid reasons for changing them.
